Brea seniors can receive assistance through Brea Senior Center to make local transportation a little easier. By partnering with Orange County Office on Aging, OCTA Senior Mobility Program, and Community SeniorServ, the Senior Center offers several options to help older adults get around town.
Brea Senior Shuttle
The City of Brea currently offers free shuttle transportation to and from the Senior Center and to pre-scheduled shopping and and golf trips. The shuttle operates Monday – Frida. An application process, 60+ years of age and Brea residency requirements apply. Once approved, requests for ride reservations must be submitted only one business day in advance prior to noon.
There are two pick-ups for shuttle rides in the morning. The pick-up time ranges are determined the day prior, however usually take place between 8:15 am – 10 am. The shuttle provides two options for return rides back home after lunch on a first-come, first-served basis. After the first round of drop offs, the shuttle returns to the Senior Center to pick up those wanting to go on the second drop off.

The Brea Shuttle departs from the Senior Center at the noted times. When picking up the participants at the end of the shopping/golf experience, on Mondays they will then be dropped off at their residence, and on Tuesdays/Wednesdays, they will return back to the Senior Center in time for lunch at noon. Shopping locations may include but are not limited to: Ralphs, Albertsons, Vons, Trader Joe's, Wal-Mart, Target, 99 Cents Store, Sprouts and retailers in the Brea Mall. Restrictions apply.
Senior Taxi Program
The Senior Center offers discounted taxi rides for eligible Brea residents. Eligibility criteria include: Brea residency, income, 60+ years of age, inability to drive, and is income-based. There are restrictions on the number of rides allotted per month due to limited funds. However, ride destinations may expand outside of Brea to pre-selected neighboring cities. Co-pay levels are $0, $3, or $5 maximum per ride. Applications are available at the Senior Center and require supporting documents at time of application submission.
New! Senior Van Service
The van service operates every 1st & 3rd Monday of the month, 9 AM – 3 PM. An application is required, and eligibility criteria includes: Brea residency and 60+ years of age. Priority is provided to those who are no longer able to drive. Riders have a fee of $2 per one way ride. Once approved, ride requests must be submitted 3 business days in advance.
Ride requests must be within 10 miles of the riders’ residence and the destinations must remain in Orange County. Most destinations are covered including, but not limited to: grocery stores, restaurants, banks, Brea Mall, friend/family homes, post office, Downtown Brea, Brea Community Center, etc. Transportation needs to non-emergency medical transportation services and/or medical transportation through health insurance should be applied for and used as a primary source for medical appointments, as should the senior center shuttle to attend Brea Senior Center.
