Update: 5:22 p.m. 5/15/19: Carbon Canyon Rd. is reopened. However, FYI, Caltrans is proceeding with planned nighttime lane closures in the City of Chino Hills for the SR-142 paving and guardrail project. There will be one-way traffic control from 8:00 pm to 5:00 am Wednesday night, May 15 through Saturday morning, May 18. Please remember to reduce your speed in the work zone.
Update 3:15 pm, 5/15/19: State Route 142 Update: Carbon Canyon has reopened all lanes in both directions. Thank you for your patience.
Update 4:35 pm: State Route 142 (Carbon Canyon) is still closed from Old Carbon Canyon Rd to Chino Hills Pkwy due to gas-line damage for an unknown duration. Current access to Carbon Canyon is for residents only. Chino Hills residents of Summit Ranch are allowed access from Brea to Feldspar Road. No other commuter access is allowed at this time. Caltrans staff are working in conjunction with SoCal Gas and emergency responders to mitigate the gas leak. Motorists are advised to use alternate routes such as SR-91, SR-60, or I-10 to avoid the closure. Visit caltrans8.info for updates.
