International Pastels
Dates: January 23 - March 5, 2010

Featuring over 100 fine art pastels from around the world, this exhibition is the 15th annual juried competition for the International Association of Pastel Societies.

25th Annual Made in California Juried Exhibition
Dates: March 27 - May 7, 2010
Opening Reception: Saturday, March 27, 7 - 9 p.m. 

The gallery continues to host this popular juried exhibition, which serves an important function to its community—revealing new art movements around the state. This exhibit will showcase a multicultural survey of art in California including graduate art students, faculty members from art departments, and amateurs from various state regions such as San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Diego, and Orange County. Guest juror Grace Kook-Anderson, Curator of Exhibitions for Laguna Art Museum, will be selecting up to 80 pieces of art from an anticipated 500 statewide entries. The top award will be $500.

Repurpose, Reuse, Recycle
Dates: June 5 - July 9, 2010
Opening Reception: Saturday, June 5 from 7 - 9 p.m.

This exhibition will portray the artist’s response to the nation’s growing interest in ecology. Invited artists will be asked to select one of three methods to create a work of art:  
  • Take a common household object and “Repurpose” it into a work of art. 
  • Take an item or items destined for a landfill, and “Reuse” it in the creation of art. 
  • Use “Recycled” materials as the medium for their work of art.


Skate/Surf Show
Dates: August 7 - September 10, 2010
Opening Reception: Saturday, August 7 from 7 - 9 p.m.

An exhibition featuring arwork, board designs and shirt graphics from surf/skateshop designers as well as entries.

Watercolor West 42nd Annual Exhibition
Dates: October 9 - December 19, 2010
Opening Reception: Saturday, October 9, 5 - 7 p.m.

As standard bearers for the traditions of transparent watercolor technique, Watercolor West endeavors to once again bring to the City of Brea Art Gallery an exhibition of the finest examples of the watercolor medium, presenting 100 works selected from over 1,400 entries from around the globe. A series of watercolor demonstrations for adults makes the 42nd Annual Watercolor West Juried Exhibition an event many plan on attending.
