Brea Completes Energy Efficiency, Solar Project
Brea celebrated the completion of its Energy Efficiency and Solar Power Project at a dedication ceremony on Thursday, July 21, 2011, at the Civic & Cultural Center. The city is currently the largest municipal producer of solar power in Orange County.
A comprehensive energy efficiency program has resulted in immediate savings that exceeded the initial projections. The project is expected to generate an estimated $13 million in net savings over 25 years. Electrical utility costs will be reduced by an average 40% and carbon emissions by 86,000 metric tons.
