Your Carbon Footprint
There is a lot of talk about greenhouse gas and carbon emissions. You want to do your part to reduce these. But how does that work in daily life? Each person, household, and business can take action for a sustainable future.
The California Air Resources Board has a goal to provide resources to all Californians in order to reduce their environmental impact and take action to stop climate change. Realizing local governments, businesses, schools, and individuals have different needs, there are customized pages for each audience to determine what impact they might create. Check out your own carbon footprint using this handy online calculator.
Tree City USA
Over many years Brea has continued to meet all four standards required to be designated as a Tree City USA. The national Tree City program operates in cooperation with the National Association of State Foresters and the USDA Forest Service. It promotes the effective use of trees within urban environments.
Through the Parks Department within the Public Works Division, work is ongoing to maintain a comprehensive program. Quality public landscape, including a mix of environmentally friendly trees, is augmented by timely ordinances and language in the city's General Plan to influence higher standards for tree use within private development.
