Congratulations on Your Retirement, Sergeant Jim Griffin

Posted on May 11, 2015 at 3:41 p.m. by johnb johnb

This week the Brea Police Department said goodbye to Sergeant Jim Griffin, who is retiring after 26 years of service to the City of Brea. Sgt. Griffin made a tremendous impact in many areas of our department and the community. In addition to being an accomplished Patrol Officer and Patrol Corporal, Sgt. Griffin also served as a DARE officer and detective prior to being promoted to Sergeant. Sgt. Griffin seemed to be a natural in every assignment he took on. His warm smile and sense of humor made him a favorite of school kids who received his guidance as a DARE officer, and he later gained a reputation as a dedicated investigator committed to helping victims. As a Sergeant, Jim served in Patrol and Professional Standards. He also worked closely with the members of the department’s Volunteers in Police Service (VIPS) program.

Sgt. Griffin has always been known for his humility and he never sought the spotlight. Personally, I will miss Jim’s good sense of humor, constant friendliness, and unfailing loyalty. Happy Retirement, Sergeant Griffin!
