K9 Tarzan Retires

Posted on February 4, 2015 at 9:24 a.m. by johnb johnb

January 30, 2015 was the final shift for police K9 Tarzan, as he is retiring after 6 years of service with our department. Tarzan has been with his current partner, Officer Alfons Kunze, for nearly three years, and worked with Officer Donny Lee for his first three years. Tarzan is a 7 ½ year old Belgian Malinois. During his career, he has undergone thousands of hours of training in obedience, suspect apprehension, and narcotics detection, and also has experience working with SWAT. During his years of service Tarzan has been utilized for many narcotics searches and suspect location searches, and has represented the department at a number of community events.

Tarzan has become a big part of the Kunze family, and will spend his retirement living with them as their family pet. Please join us in congratulating and thanking Tarzan for his loyal service to Brea!
