This past Sunday, 62 of Brea’s young artists got the chance to participate in Brea Loves Art! The event included seven teams from schools or youth programs, who were challenged with designing a banner with artwork depicting the theme, “Small Town, Big Spirit,” and bringing it to life with vibrant color and creativity. Mayor Glenn Parker kicked off the event at 3 p.m., giving the enthusiastic artists two hours to create their masterpiece.
Artwork was judged into three categories: “Best Use of Theme,” “Best Use of Color,” and “Mayor’s Choice.” The young artists painted for over two hours exhibiting teamwork, enthusiasm, and most importantly, their Brea Spirit!
We congratulate the winners:
o Winner of “Best Use of Theme”- Laurel’s Art Avatars
o Winner of “Best Use of Color”- St. Angela Merici School Artists

o Winner of “Mayor’s Choice”- Brea Afterschool Program

We were thrilled to have the support of our sponsors Brea Rotary and Blick Art Materials who gave our talented youth the chance to “Experience Brea Arts!” We also want to thank the staff, community, and the young artists for their efforts to make this event possible. Look out for the eye-catching banners to be displayed at the first floor of the Brea Civic & Cultural Center at a later date.
