Get in the holiday giving mood! The City of Brea offers a variety of ways to lend a helping hand during the holiday season.
Adopt-a-Senior: Help a Brea senior this holiday by participating in the Adopt-a-Senior program. You can brighten the holidays for a senior, who is in need of a little extra support. Adopt-a-Family: Extend goodwill and joy to another family in your own community by participating in this year’s Adopt-A-Family. Businesses, community organizations and families who wish to Adopt-A-Family may call the Brea Resource Center at 714-990-7150.
Brea Fire Department Holiday Toy Drive: Help Brea Firefighters make the holidays bright for children in need. Donate new, unwrapped toys to the first annual Brea Fire Department Holiday Toy Drive. Simply drop-off your donations to any Brea Fire Station until December 20. Toys will benefit children in Brea and others served by local nonprofit organizations.
Angel Tree Program: In partnership with the Brea Mall, the Brea Senior Center participates in an annual program called "Angel Tree." This holiday program provides gifts to qualifying older adults who may be isolated or lack local support. Volunteers are needed as table monitors for 2-hour shifts at the mall from December 11-December 13. Call the Brea Senior Center at 714-990-7750 for more details.
Wish Tree: Gift cards for certain businesses are needed to support case management work of the Brea Resource Center. Cards for local grocery stores, gas stations, restaurants or variety stores are desired. If you are interested in contributing, please look for Wish Tree displays at the Brea Civic & Cultural Center (3rd Floor), Brea Community Center, or Resource Center. These charity dollars being spent in the community also have an economic benefit in addition to becoming direct aid for the less fortunate. Call the BRC at 714-990-7150 for info.
BCEC Holiday Food Baskets: Boxes will be available to collect donations of non-perishable food items at the Brea Civic & Cultural Center (3rd Floor), Brea Community Center, City Maintenance Yard, and Brea Senior Center until December 13. Area schools also participate in this food drive. Canned or dry foods, as well as toiletry items, are needed. Volunteers are needed on December 13 and 14 to sort and pack donated goods. Call 714-337-7666 to volunteer your time. You can also help by making a tax-deductible contribution payable to BCEC. Mail to P.O.
