[ARCHIVED] Holiday Giving

Many Brea families and residents find themselves in need throughout the year, and especially this holiday season due to the pandemic. The Brea Resource Center connects Brea families and individuals who need a little extra help by connecting them with resources donated by our generous community. Our community’s kindness makes a difference to brighten their outlook and help them get by. If you would like to make a donation, there are several great ways to give!

Wish Tree

This year, the Brea Resource Center partnered with various retailers across the City to host the Wish Tree Program. You can find a Brea Wish Tree at Coldsun Café, Reborn Coffee, Oak & Willow Coffee, and Sunmerry Coffee. Visit one of those locations to select a requested gift card tag off the tree and return your donation directly to the retailer. Gift cards are then used to provide relief to Brea families facing financial hardship.

BCEC & ACT

Once again, the Brea Resource Center is partnering with the Brea Community Emergency Council (BCEC) and Active Christians Today (ACT) to participate in the annual Holiday Food Basket Program. Prior to COVID, this program provided groceries to prepare a holiday meal for families in need of financial assistance. However, this year, instead of collecting food, BCEC will be purchasing gift cards to donate to these families. To make a monetary donation, mail a check to: BCEC, PO Box 8624, Brea, CA 92821.

Adopt-A-Family

The Brea Resource Center also has their annual Adopt-A-Family Program available for donations. Staff works with families in crisis; some of those families are then selected to participate in our Adopt-A-Family program. Families are “adopted” by local individuals, companies, church groups and provided with holiday gifts and meals for each member of the family. Adopters drop off gifts at the Resource Center and then families pick up the donations from the Resource Center.

For further information on how to give to these programs, please contact the Brea Resource Center at 714-990-7150.
