Registration is open for the Brea Youth Theatre and Stagelight Family Productions Winter production of Disney and Cameron Mackintosh’s Mary Poppins, at the Curtis Theatre. Brea’s Youth Theatre offers children, ages 5 through 18, a fun-filled way to learn the art and practice of theatre. Children and teens have the opportunity to build confidence, develop lasting friendships and work as a team, while appearing in fully-staged musicals. Brea’s Youth Theatre also presents an opportunity for the entire family to play together, as parents are encouraged to volunteer backstage! A new generation will soon want to perform this timeless tale and discover the joy of being on stage. Brea Youth Theatre has a long history of showcasing young talent in memorable classics.
Fee: The Registration fee is $155 for Brea Residents (those who live, work or go to school in Brea), and $170 for Non-Brea Residents. All who register will be cast in the show. The Registration fee covers participation during rehearsals, performances, the Opening Night Red Carpet Gala and registrant admission to the Cast Party.

THE FIRST DAY OF CLASS IS FRIDAY, November 6th, 6 P.M. AT THE BREA SENIOR CENTER.
Pre-Audition Workshop: Friday, November 6, 6 p.m. at the Brea Senior Center. Children & Teens learn both the song & dance for auditions. No monologues or pre-prepared songs. All participants will audition, using the material taught at the Pre-Audition Workshop.
Auditions: Saturday, November 7, 12:30 - 4 p.m. at the Brea Senior Center. All who register will be cast in the show.
Rehearsals: Rehearsals begin Friday, November 13, at the Brea Senior Center. Participants rehearse in groups, according to age, on average two times per week. Initial rehearsals are Friday, 6-10 p.m., Saturday, 12:30 - 4 p.m., Sunday, 1 p.m. beginning Friday, November 13 until Sunday, December 20. Only leads and selected groups will be called on Sundays. Beginning Monday, December 21, rehearsals will take place on evenings and weekends at the Curtis Theatre, until the production’s opening date of January 14, 2016. Typically, there are no rehearsals on holidays and a reduced schedule during holiday breaks. A calendar, providing more details will be distributed monthly.
Costumes: Costumes are the responsibility of the parent to make or rent. On average, each child will have two costumes. The cost is approximately $30 per costume. Detailed costume information will be available when rehearsals begin.
Optional Costs: Participant families will have the opportunity to purchase additional items associated with the production (pictures, t-shirts, tickets, etc.). These items are optional.
Production Dates: Thursday, January 14 through Sunday, January 31, 2016. Thursday, 6:30 p.m. and Friday at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at 2 p.m. & 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. & 6:30 p.m., at the Curtis Theatre.
